Self Motivation & Success
Don't misunderstand me, things do happen to people, and through no fault or effort of their own. Gigantic obstacles are placed in our way sometimes, that seem absolutely insurmountable, or even giant fortunes that can cause untold misery. Generally speaking, however, getting what you really want out of life is a matter of two simple steps.
Firstly - and this may seem like a no-brainer - you have to decide what it is you want the most. As I outline in my Positive Thinking Formula for Your Success you must decide what to aim for, with absolute specificity and positivity. Don't make a shopping list of wishes, but focus your self-motivation on one thing at a time. If you're not sure about where you want to go, there's no point in getting into the vehicle in the first place. Oh I'll just drive and see where I end up is not a very practical philosophy.
Secondly, create a self-motivation action plan. This will be your map for getting from where you are now, to where you want to be. If you know what you want, what steps are you going to take to get it? Your answer must be: "Whatever steps are necessary".
However, whenever there is something to be done, we either decide to do it, to put it off, or not do it at all. The deciding factor may be whether we are interested or engaged in the outcome. If we are and the reward is pleasurable, we may decide to do the thing right away. If there is no great interest in the outcome then we probably won't bother unless it is to avoid pain.
Either way, Positive Thinking is what self-motivation depends upon and you alone can decide whether you are motivated either by pleasure or the avoidance of pain to do whatever needs doing right now.
Test this out and see if what I am saying makes practical sense.
For the next week, choose just one small thing to do differently and commit yourself to it. At the end of the week, check out the results. I'm willing to bet you'll be surprised and motivated to move on to some more changes. Then you are on your way.
But remember this: while everyone states their desire to succeed, only those who truly COMMIT to their dreams are ever able to attain success. Self-motivation, passion, and your reason to succeed in life, as well as in business, are essential requirements to reaching your goals through Positive Thinking. For most people, having MORE money, MORE freedom and MORE success is nothing but a faintly-held desire. The reality is that they can live without it even though it is great to have it. As a result, they never (and never need to) take enough consistent and sustained action to achieve their dreams when something else more 'important' or 'urgent' comes up.
